Vintage Pictorial Map of China

This huge and amazing pictorial map of China was compiled by John A. Diakoff, known as the “Scientific Collaborator of the Former Russian Orientalist Society”, and richly illustrated by G. Primakoff to show the extraordinary diversity of the area we know as China. Interestingly, although it was made in 1931, it already contains Tibet, which was only occupied by China in the 50’s. If anyone has an explanation for that, they are welcome to share it as comments. (Click image to enlarge)
