What you see here is a behind-the-scene image showing how this amazing video animating life in the 1900s was produced with the aid of a steampunk time machine (see more behind-the-scene images below video).

Russian artist Alexey Zakharov describes his project, entitled The Old New World, as a “photo-based animation made with camera projection” based on source photos from the Shorpy.com archives. He used photos of New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Boston and Washington, D.C., from 1900-1940 in his film with music by Al Bowlly.

Great job, can’t imagine the work. Would love to do this on the old Imperial Works of OIL WELL SUPPLY CO. in Oil City, Pa. The possibilities on projects like this is endless. Fine Job. Keep up the good work.
