Google Deep Dream Turns ‘Fear and Loathing’ Into an Even Nastier Trip

Deep Dream, Google’s artificial neural network, which identifies and builds on certain features in images, has turned a scene from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas into a trippy nightmare (watch the video below). That part of the movie was already trippy enough, as it features an LSD trip at The Matrix in San Francisco, but after being fed into Google’s neural network, it now introduces animal faces that ebb and flow in the shadows, with extra eyes and outlines flickering in and out of focus. I wonder whether the experiment actually involved someone actually watching the video on acid.
