Digital Sundial (That You Can 3D Print Yourself)

The end of the year is coming and it is sunny, at least where I am, so this digital sundial designed by 3D printing enthusiast Mojoptix comes in just handy. It displays time with actual digits and was mathematically designed to only let through certain rays from the sun at the right time/angle.

As Mojoptix puts it, “no batteries, no motor, no electronics… It’s all just a really super-fancy shadow show.” If you have access to a 3D printer, you can find all the files necessary to print the sundial on Thingiverse. If you do not, you can get your very own through Mojoptix’s Etsy store.

Mojoptix also created a YouTube tutorial explaining how it all works (see below the pictures).
